Chesapeake City Park is the largest municipally owned park in Chesapeake at 68 acres, featuring a 22-acre lake, walking trails, picnic shelters, an amphitheater, playgrounds, and a dog park. The park hosts the annual Chesapeake Jubilee festival each May, one of the region's most popular community events. The main entrance and parking lot are off City Park Drive near Greenbrier Parkway.

Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge
The Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge spans 112,000 acres across the Virginia–North Carolina border, with the primary Chesapeake-side trailhead at the Washington Ditch Entrance (3076 White Marsh Road, Suffolk, VA). The refuge is home to Lake Drummond, one of only two natural lakes in Virginia. The Interior Canal Ditch Trail runs 4.2 miles one-way to the lake along a flat, shaded path — ideal for school groups and naturalist tours.

Northwest River Park
Northwest River Park is a 763-acre city park along the Northwest River, approximately 20 miles from downtown Chesapeake via Route 17 South. The park offers camping, canoe and kayak rentals, hiking trails, a miniature golf course, and picnic shelters — making it a favorite destination for school field trips, scout groups, and outdoor recreation events. Camping reservations are required.
The main lot is off Indian Creek Road, with gravel and grass overflow parking for larger groups. Charter bus groups should call ahead to 757-796-1250 to coordinate drop-off and parking before arrival.
Summit Pointe
Summit Pointe is Chesapeake's major mixed-use development in the Greenbrier corridor, anchored by the Chesapeake Conference Center (700 Conference Center Drive, Chesapeake, VA 23320, phone 757-796-1250). The development features retail, restaurants, office space, and residential units along Perimeter Parkway near the I-64 Greenbrier interchange. The Conference Center hosts corporate meetings, trade shows, and private events year-round.
Surface parking lots are large and flat with no published bus size restrictions. Charter buses drop off at the main entrance drives along Perimeter Parkway and Conference Center Drive, then stage in the outer lot rows. Ideal for corporate shuttles and conference group transportation.
Chesapeake Arboretum
Chesapeake Arboretum is a 48-acre free public arboretum managed by the City of Chesapeake, featuring walking trails through woodland and wetland habitats, labeled tree and plant collections, a butterfly garden, and a small pond. Open dawn to dusk daily; no admission fee. The parking lot off Oakbrooke Drive holds approximately 30–40 standard vehicles.
Charter buses should drop passengers at the lot entrance and stage on Oakbrooke Drive or in the adjacent Chesapeake City Hall campus parking area (306 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, VA 23322) during off-hours. Virginia Beach Oceanfront
The Virginia Beach Oceanfront (Atlantic Avenue, Virginia Beach, VA 23451) is approximately 18–25 miles from central Chesapeake via I-264 E, and it is one of the most popular group destinations in the Hampton Roads region. The 3-mile Boardwalk runs along the ocean from 1st Street to 40th Street, lined with restaurants, shops, and entertainment. Charter buses drop off along Atlantic Avenue in commercial loading zones between 17th and 20th Streets, near the Virginia Beach Convention Center, which has a large north-lot staging area for coaches.
Summer weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day are peak season — plan arrivals early to beat Atlantic Avenue congestion.
Waterside District
Waterside District is a waterfront dining, entertainment, and event complex on the Elizabeth River in downtown Norfolk, approximately 12–15 miles from central Chesapeake via I-64 E and I-264. The district features more than 30 restaurants and bars, live entertainment, and event space, and is connected to the Portsmouth waterfront by the Elizabeth River Ferry. Charter buses drop off on the curb lane of Waterside Drive in front of the main entrance, then stage at the Nauticus/Town Point Park surface lot or in commercial vehicle zones on St. Paul's Boulevard.

Harbor Park
Harbor Park is the home of the Norfolk Tides (AAA affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles), located on the Elizabeth River waterfront in downtown Norfolk, approximately 12–14 miles from central Chesapeake via I-64 E. The ballpark seats 12,067 and hosts the Tides' home season from April through September. Charter buses drop off at the main entrance on Park Avenue and park in the outer rows of the main Harbor Park lot or in the designated commercial area near the stadium's service entrance.
